This is the place to go if you like sailing, great weather, nice beaches and shops. Sand dollars used to be a commonplace, but no more. Now you can spend your days (and dollars) at pricy stores. The beaches are great and if it's not summer, it won't be too crowded to rent a bike and ride along the boardwalk for the two-mile stretch between the Newport Pier and the Balboa Pier. Newport has a wonderful small boat harbor. You can rent an electric boat at the Balboa Pavillion and cruise around the islands: Lido, Balboa, Bay, Harbor, Collins, etc.

Protected from the pounding Pacific Ocean, surrounded by sandy beaches and a secluded bay, Balboa Island is tucked away in a beautiful coastal region off the coast of Southern California, and one of Southern California's most well-know tourist destinations, between the peninsula and the mainland. You can reach it from the mainland via the bridge at Jamboree Street, but as well as ferrying over from the peninsula. It is famous for its fabulous weather, outdoor activities, and the best of the pleasures of life.
